I am Mikael "Mixu" Björklund, born in 1976 in Turku

The "grilling metronome" of Mixu´s Grill, for whom high-quality barbecue has always been the number one thing in delicious moments.

 

Below is my story, how I ended up as a grill entrepreneur in Forssa.

 

My Story

Mikael “Mixu” Björklund, who has been the entrepreneur of Mixu´s Grill since 2022, has a relaxed everyday life, although the work is challenging during peak hours. In recent years, the grill has been renovated. Mixu´s Grill has been cleaned, renovated, the yard and surroundings have been renovated, a website has been created for the grill, and the dishes have been developed so that they focus on good ingredients, quality, and taste. Not everything is fried in the same oil so that the flavors mix, but the grill company focuses on pure flavors.

 

Mikael Björklund is familiar with entrepreneurship.

– As a child, I didn't have any dream profession, my interests varied from police to pilot, depending on what seemed fun, but both of my parents were entrepreneurs. At the age of 24, I started my journey as an entrepreneur at the Videofirma Makuuni chain store in Meri-Rastila, Helsinki.

There is also experience from abroad.

– I have lived in Tenerife seasonally for almost half of my life. I had a total of three restaurant businesses there with my mother; the Scandic dance salon, the La Bamba karaoke bar and the el Principado restaurant. Since 2003, my private life has brought me from Tenerife, first occasionally and then permanently, to the Forssa region.

From a barbecue kiosk to a change in life.

Entrepreneur Mikael Björklund wanted a change in life and switched from night work as a bartender to day work.

I have been working as a barman for almost 30 years. Over the years, I have also worked as a barman in the Forssa region, for example at Hotel Koskenniska in Forssa and at the restaurant Ferraria in Jokioinen.

However, working nights is quite challenging and difficult for a family man. These factors led to the sale of Heikan Grill, which has been operating since 1988, and here we are.

– I have made the grill look my own. There is still a lot to do and improve, including the building and equipment, but everything will come in time.

 

The motto is cleanliness, hygiene, and freshness at a reasonable price, taking into account the student budget.

The grill's most popular product is sausage fries, a dish that customers enjoy early in the morning. The dish is made with fresh and pure rapeseed oil, spices and mayonnaise.

Mikael's own favorite is definitely the Premium Burger topped with bacon. The Ostrobothnian meat producer found the best option for whole beef patties for burgers and Premium burgers. However, the grill breads and burgers are the thing that people will come to get from a little further afield. So the reputation has skyrocketed, a big thank you and a bow.

– The best part of this job is meeting customers. For Mixu, quality and customer service are a matter of the heart.
